Seattle Real Estate in Review 2012

By Sarah Heath, Managing Real Estate Broker, Matrix Real Estate

Ladies and gentlemen, please wait for the ride to come to a complete stop before exiting.

It’s beginning to feel a little like we’ve been trapped on a roller coaster for the past five or so years, controlled by prices and interest rates and foreclosures and short sales and construction booms and construction busts and whatever else the market can throw at us.  In 2012, the punk teenager that pushes the button finally hit the brakes a little – enough to make us stop screaming, at least.

New Photos of Lennar Seattle's Popular Lyman Plan

Current Phase of Galloway Nearly Sold Out

Condominiums are now completely sold out at Galloway in the Highlands, a boutique mixed-use property that includes condominiums, townhomes and retail. Now, with just one townhome remaining in the current phase, Galloway will be open by appointment starting this weekend.

The eight-unit condominium building came on the market towards the end of the "Great Recession" and even for a smaller building it was difficult to get financing to close the homes. It was also an unusual product type for the Renton Highlands market - spacious new luxury condominiums of a quality more typical for Bellevue or Kirkland. The Matrix team, including site agent Tamea Duckworth, worked closely with the sellers to retain buyers until we could get financing. More recently, the last few condominiums have sold relatively quickly as the market and financing opportunities have improved.

New wave of buyers moving to Burien Town Square

By Steve Shay, Highline Times

The 124-unit Burien Town Square condo development has been burdened with the reputation of being a quiet complex for the wrong reasons, lagging sales. That burden seems to have lifted as a record number of customers have recently made offers while many units have had closings.

According to Tracey O'Brien, Burien Town Square Sales Director, things are picking up steam in her "sales gallery" as fast as those locomotives at the Electric Train Shop across the street.
